Monaco is gorgeous and a great destination for an impromptu day trip. It’s also home to of one the most beaten paths in Europe, which means you can bring just about any amount of clothes or even money with no worries! Along with my husband and twin daughters (9 years old at the time), I made a quick 7-day whirlwind round trip tour of Monaco by hopping on trains that took us through some other great stops in the region.

If you’re planning a Monaco trip, be sure to use this 7-day itinerary as your guide. With its beautiful coastline, luxurious lifestyle and amazing architecture, Monaco is a place that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. By following this plan, you’ll make the most of your time in the country and see everything that it has to offer.

Day 1: Arrive in Monaco

After your morning flight arrives in Nice, make your way to the nearby city of Monaco. You’ll have the entire day to explore this tiny principality, which is home to fewer than 40,000 residents. Visit the Palais duPrince, tour the Monte-Carlo Casino, and stroll through the Jardin Exotique. Be sure to grab a bite at one of Monaco’s many restaurants before heading back to Nice for the night.

Day 2: Monte Carlo Walk

On the second day of your Monaco trip, take a walk around Monte Carlo. This small city is home to the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo, as well as the Prince’s Palace. Start your day with a walk through the casino square, then head to the beach for some sun and relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Prince’s Palace and tour the State Apartments. Finish your day with dinner at one of Monte Carlo’s many restaurants.

Day 3: Explore Monaco by Bike

On the third day of your Monaco trip, you’ll explore the city by bike! This is a great way to see everything Monaco has to offer, from the Prince’s Palace to the Monte Carlo Casino. You can rent bikes at many locations around town, or even take a guided tour. Either way, you’re sure to have a great time exploring Monaco by bike!

Day 4: Eze Views and a Picnic Lunch

On the fourth day of your Monaco trip, you’ll wake up early to catch the best views of the medieval town of Eze. Be sure to bring your camera to snap some photos of the stunning panoramas. After taking in the sights, you’ll head down to the beach for a picnic lunch. Make sure to pack some sandwiches and drinks so you can relax and enjoy the incredible views.

Day 5: Visit Private Gardens and Eat Local Food

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, you’ll set out to explore Monaco’s private gardens. The Jardin Exotique, with its cacti and succulents, is a must-see. The Jardin Animalier, where you can feed the deer and rabbits, is also great for kids.

Next, it’s time to eat! Monaco has some great local restaurants serving fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Make sure to try the famous Monaco sandwich – a baguette stuffed with tuna, tomatoes, and olives.

After lunch, you’ll visit the Princess Grace Rose Garden. This beautiful garden is named after Grace Kelly, the Hollywood actress who married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. You’ll also get to see thechanging of the guard at the prince’s palace.

Finally, you’ll end your day with a stroll along Monte Carlo’s famous casino square. Here you’ll find luxury cars and designer shops galore. If you’re feeling lucky, maybe even try your hand at the casino!

Day 6: Monte Carlo by Night

Monaco comes alive at night, and there’s no better place to experience it than Monte Carlo. This glamorous destination is home to some of the best clubs, bars, and restaurants in the world, and there’s always something going on. Whether you’re looking for a sophisticated evening out or a wild night on the town, Monte Carlo has something for everyone.

If you’re feeling fancy, head to one of Monte Carlo’s famous casinos for an evening of gambling and peoplewatching. The Casino de Monte Carlo is the most well-known, but there are also several other smaller casinos worth checking out. Dress to impress and be prepared to rub shoulders with the wealthy and famous – this is Monaco after all!

For a more low-key evening, stroll along the promenade and take in the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Stop for a drink or bite to eat at one of the many outdoor cafes or restaurants, then do some window-shopping at the luxury boutiques along your route.

End your night with a bang by watching the spectacular fireworks display over Monaco harbor. The show takes place every Saturday night at midnight during the summer months, so don’t miss it!

Day 7: Depart from Monaco

On your final day in Monaco, be sure to check out some of the amazing sights that you may have missed earlier in your trip! The Prince’s Palace, the Oceanographic Museum, and the Monte-Carlo Casino are all great places to spend your last day.

In the morning, take a walk around the Prince’s Palace and grounds. This beautiful palace is the home of the Prince of Monaco, and it is open to the public for tours. Be sure to check out the State Apartments, where you can see how the royal family lives.

After exploring the palace, head to the Oceanographic Museum. This museum is dedicated to marine life and oceanography, and it has some truly fascinating exhibits. You can learn all about coral reefs, shipwrecks, and underwater ecosystems.

Finally, round out your trip with a visit to the Monte-Carlo Casino. This iconic casino is one of Monaco’s most famous landmarks, and it is well worth a visit. Even if you don’t gamble, you can enjoy the beautiful architecture and luxurious atmosphere of this casino.
